A Milan Central Station, known as Milano Centrale, has been listed as one of the best passenger train stations in Europe.
This is what the second edition of the European Railway Station Index, index compiled by Consumer Choice Center based on the capacity of railway stations to welcome travelers and guarantee them a whole range of services, in addition to aesthetics or the number of destinations offered.

Milano Centrale occupies seventh place in the continental ranking, ahead of Birmingham New Street, in England.
The station in the capital of Lombardy obtained a score of 93 out of 133 points available.

The European Railway Station Index 2021 criteria
The European Railway Station Index is the result of analysis of 50 biggest railway stations in Europe, classified in terms of passenger experience and based on a mix of factors ranging from crowding to the number of destinations.
What has just been published is the second annual edition of the European Index, created with the aim of classifying the most suitable stations for passengers on the Old Continent.
The statistics were compiled taking into account several factors, such as the availability of app-based taxi services, competition from railway companies, restaurants e stores within the stations, accessibility for wheelchairs, assistance, number of national and international destinations, the presence of Wi-Fi and quick access to online platforms.
The ranking of the best railway stations in Europe
In the ranking prepared by the European Railway Station Index, the historic Milan Central Station, which also contains a “secret” room, was included in seventh place with 93 points out of 133.
At the top is the Leipzig Hauptbahnhof in Leipzig, Germany. Wien Hauptbahnhof, in Vienna/Austria, and St. Pancras, in London/England, complete the podium.
The fourth position went to the Netherlands with the Amsterdam Centraal station together with Moscow Kazansky, in Moscow.
Two German stations appear in fifth position: Frankfurt Hauptbahnhof, in Frankfurt am Main, and Munchen Hauptbahnhofn, in Munich.
Next appear those of Moscow Kursky, in Moscow, and the Central Station in Milan and Birmingham New Street, in Birmingham, England.
