The Prime Minister of Italy, Giorgia Meloni, congratulated Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (PT) on his victory in the 2022 presidential elections.
In a post on the Italian government's Twitter profile, the leader said this Monday (31) that the two countries “will continue to work together in the name of the historic friendship between their peoples and to face common challenges".

Winner of the parliamentary elections on September 25, Meloni took office as prime minister just over a week ago and, during the electoral campaign, was indirectly criticized by Lula.
“Today everyone is being threatened more. And it's not just in Brazil, it's in Italy, Hungary and other countries. It’s the extreme right with a fascist head”, said the PT member during a meeting with Catholics on October 17th. (Handle)
