The Italian Prime Minister, Giorgia Meloni, declared this Monday (26) that Italy now enjoys greater credibility and is more heard internationally, one year after the electoral victory that made it the first woman to lead a government in the country.
“On September 25th, a year ago, the Italians gave a clear indication: a center-right government led by the Brothers of Italy (FdI)”, stated the FdI leader on social media.
“We did everything in our power to achieve victory, aware that it was not a point of arrival, but a starting point. A year later, I have no desire to take stock, that is up to the citizens. But I can say one thing: I promised to leave Italy better than the one I found and I can say that today our nation is more reliable, stable and listened to”, he maintained.
Regarding the next year of government, the prime minister indicated that it will be a year of reforms, covering everything from taxes to the country's schools.
“2024 will be a very important year, the year of the great reforms that this country needs: fiscal reform, first of all, but also the beginning of constitutional reform and justice reform, followed by the great reform of merit, particularly in schools ”, he argued.
“We have a big task ahead of us, but this is what we will do to fulfill the commitments made to the Italians. Italy chose us and we will not betray it”, emphasized Meloni.
This Monday, the Italian government adopted measures worth 1,3 billion euros for Italian families, reported government sources present at a meeting of the Council of Ministers, cited by international agencies.
The measures include the extension and reinforcement of measures against high bills and high energy prices for families, in addition to support for transport, the same sources reported.
A social card called “Dedicated to You” was expanded to include the purchase of fuel, and the refinancing of the local public transport subsidy was also approved.
The Italian government also allegedly approved the Energy Decree, a decree-law with measures related to energy, measures to support purchasing power and protection of savings.
