In second place comes “De Rica”, with 76 points. Also of great quality.

Star, Divella e Mutti and De Cecco have intermediate quality, that is, in the good category.

Surprise for the famous Petti brand, which was at the bottom of the table. With 54 points she only achieved the average grade.

How the test was done

23 of the main brands of in Tomato Sauce present in traditional supermarkets and popular markets in Italy.

The degree of hygiene, quality, organoleptic characteristics (color, texture, flavor) and the integrity of Labels.

Laboratory analysis

The research aimed to confirm the Quality e Safety of a food product present in almost every Italian home. See what was analyzed:

  • Quality of the raw material, mainly in relation to the total sugar content (which gives an indication of the degree of ripeness of the tomatoes used to produce tomato sauce);
  • Salt quantification, for which the rule applies: the less there is, the better;
