Lula wins in Milan with 50,1% of valid votes

With 100% of the ballot boxes counted, Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (PT) received 3.124 votes in Milan (50,18% of valid votes), this Sunday. Bolsonaro (PL) was the second most voted with 2.483 (39,88%). Data from in-person elections abroad can be consulted on the TSE website.

Lula won 25 of the 31 ballot boxes in the capital of Lombardy. Bolsonaro won in polls 395, 401, 429, 430, 434 and 446.

In ballot box 428 there was a tie: Lula and Bolsonaro received 85 votes each.

The biggest abstention occurred in ballot box 426. Of the 674 voters eligible to vote, only 81 showed up. In this ballot box, Lula received 42 votes; Bolsonaro, 33.

Lula also won in Rome

In the Italian capital, Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (PT) received 2.294 votes (53,1% of valid votes), this Sunday. The current president Jair Bolsonaro (PL) totaled 1.351 votes (31.2%).

In Milan, Brazilians wait almost 4 hours to vote

Brazilians living in the northern region of Italy waited almost four hours in line to vote for the Presidential elections, this Sunday (2). Six electronic voting machines were replaced by manual voting.

A long queue was already forming at around 8 am, when the polls opened in the voting area, on the Università LUISS campus, in Milan.

Bolsonaro won in Milan in 2018

In the first round of the 2018 Elections, the then candidate Jair Bolsonaro (PSL) received 2.608 votes in the Milan polling station (55,50%). Fernando Haddad, from PT, won 786 votes (16,73%).

In the second round, Bolsonaro received 65,27% of the votes (2.851), while Fernando Haddad received 1.517 votes (34,73%).

Almost 21 thousand Brazilian voters in Italy

According to the Italian National Statistics Institute (Istat), 50.666 Brazilians reside in Italy (data from January 2021), but, according to the Overseas Electoral Registry Office, in Brasília, 20.972 Brazilian voters in Italy were eligible to vote.

Brazilians have two consular jurisdictions, respectively in Milan, in the north, and in Rome, in the center of the country.
