Contrary to the cowardice that happened in Osasco, in a Carrefour store, where security guards executed a stray dog, the inhabitants of Catania, an Italian community located in the heart of Sicily, have nothing to celebrate.
Ikea, a giant Swedish home furniture chain, decided to open its doors to welcome the city's dozens of stray dogs. In addition to providing shelter, the unit gives the dogs water, food and, of course, a lot of affection from the company's employees.
This initiative resonated very well with the store's potential customers, who usually take a look at the pets and, as a bonus, at the coveted properties that the Swedish chain offers, including those for pet environments.

The establishment's attitude was also quite successful on social media, with some photos of the dogs spreading on Instagram.
The shelter serves as a kind of “temporary home”. In fact, the objective is for all of them to be adopted by one of the hundreds of people who pass by daily.
A few days after the initiative began, some dogs were adopted by some customers who passed by the store.
In addition to being a very altruistic idea, the “street dog shelter” contributed to a significant increase in the number of people visiting the furniture store, which also ends up increasing the number of sales. In the end, everyone wins, including the street dogs, who gain housing, food, water and, in the future, an owner to call their own.
