“It’s probably the most important moment of my career,” says Italian singer-songwriter Laura Pausini (46)
Winner of a Grammy, four Latin Grammys, among other awards, she was nominated for the first Oscar, with music I do, of the movie Rosa and Momo, in the best original song category.
In an interview with Estadão, the singer said that her happiness comes in painful times. “I'm so happy for my career, my life, news coming, like the Golden Globes and Oscars, which is a huge thing, a wonderful thing, and, at the same time, I can't see my parents, my daughter (8 years old) doesn't go to school. She's lucky enough to be very fanciful. So, during the day, she does a lot of things at our house, but she can't meet her friends,” says Laura.
“It’s probably the most important moment of my career, and it comes during a pandemic. So, one cannot fully enjoy it. But when I talk about it with my friends or family, they tell me that it's not fair for me to think that way. It's a sad time, so everything that is beautiful has to be enjoyed. I’m working on this a little, because I feel a little guilty,” she says.
In the interview, the singer said that she had been out of action since February last year. The invitation to compose the original theme with your partners for the film Rosa and Momo, from Netflix, starring Sophia Loren and directed by Edoardo Ponti, the actress's son, arrived in August.
Laura Pausini: “artistically I was dead”
“Imagine that, during my 28-year career, I spent less than ten months in my home. So, now, after a year closed, I confirm that I don't like being at home (laughs). At the same time, I need to learn to live more normally, because I also like to know that part. But, at first, it was difficult, because I couldn't find a balance. For example, I asked myself: can I write a song? I don’t have the desire, and I was always very focused on my daughter, very worried, because I didn’t want her to suffer”, she says. “But that was very difficult. So, artistically I was dead.”
Pausini says that after I do continued composing. "That music gave me strength. So, I'm writing a lot, composing a lot, I'm preparing something new. I don't know when it comes out. So far I don't have enough material for us to be able to listen to my emotions well. So, I need more time to make a record. But I'm writing. And I’m not dead artistically.”
The fans are grateful.
