Company flights are suspended until April 16. Passengers will be able to rebook their ticket or request a refund.
The airline Latam has temporarily suspended flights between São Paulo and Milan due to the spread of the coronavirus and low demand for flights to Italy.
The company's flights from Cumbica International Airport, in Guarulhos, Greater São Paulo, to Milan, Italy, and back, will be suspended from March 2nd until April 16th. Currently, the company operates seven weekly round-trip flights to the destination.
Last week, Brazil confirmed the first two cases of patients who contracted coronavirus. The two were traveling in Italy.
“We are observing the scenario of this global public health contingency and the company's decision is based, firstly, on the spread of the virus in Italy, as well as the current drop in demand on the route.”, said Jerome Cadier, CEO of Latam.
Passengers affected by the decision will be able to rebook at no cost, the company said. Customers will be able to reschedule the flight date (without fine or fare difference), receive a full refund (without fine), or reschedule the origin/destination (without fine and subject to fare difference).
Regarding passengers who are in Milan with a return ticket to Brazil, the company is committed to guaranteeing their return to the country through Latam flights or partner airlines that operate this route.
In Brazil, the Latam call center operates on the number 0300 5705700.
