The company informed that the route leaving from São Paulo to Milan continues to be operated normally
Latam has announced it will cancel operations between São Paulo and Rome starting in October. With this news, Alitalia will once again be the only airline with daily flights on this route. According to the company, the decision results from an evaluation of its flight network, as it identified oversupply in the Brazil-Europe market.
The route between São Paulo International Airport in Guarulhos and Rome began in March of last year. The service is operated using Boeing 767 aircraft, which accommodate 191 passengers in Economy class and 30 in Premium Business.
Affected passengers will receive a full ticket refund or be accommodated on another airline.
The company also informed that the route leaving from São Paulo to Milan continues to be operated normally, as well as all its other direct flights to Europe to London, Lisbon, Madrid, Barcelona, Paris and Frankfurt.
See the company statement:
“The LATAM Airlines Group informs that it has suspended the São Paulo/Guarulhos–Rome route on flights scheduled from October 1, 2019. The decision results from the constant evaluation of the company's airline network, which identified excess supply in the Brazil-Europe market .
LATAM is already in contact with the affected passengers, so that they can make a full refund of their tickets or re-accommodation in a similar company.
LATAM also reinforces that it will continue to operate normally on its São Paulo-Milan route, in addition to all its other direct flights to Europe to London, Lisbon, Madrid, Barcelona, Paris and Frankfurt.
The LATAM Airlines Group always seeks to adequately meet passenger demand in accordance with market conditions. Despite the occasional adjustment, the company will remain attentive to all market opportunities to remain the airline that most connects South America and its region with other parts of the world.”
