The Italian newspaper Ithe Sun 24 Hours published an intriguing list of the best and worst countries to emigrate to, evaluating quality of life and personal finances. Surprisingly, Brazil appeared among the highlights, occupying a prominent position in the ranking.
But before you pack your bags, here’s a caveat: these rankings shouldn’t be taken too seriously. What’s ideal for some might be a nightmare for others. After all, the concept of a “better life” varies greatly from person to person.
Italians Around the World: Where Are They Going?
If you could, where would you move to? This question has gone from being just a daydream to more than 89 thousand Italians who in 2023 decided to live abroad.
Young people between the ages of 18 and 34 are leading this wave of migration, but entire families are also packing their bags. Did they make the right choices?
The best countries to live in (be prepared for surprises!)
1. Panama: the king of expats
This small Central American country tops the rankings. But what makes it a paradise for those looking to start over?
- Ease of visas: getting there is easier than you think.
- Uncomplicated online life: without blocks on social networks or digital services.
- Affordable housing: rent affordable and easy to find.
Now, the most curious thing: 82% of expats say that Panama has changed their lives for the better. Is it a coincidence?
2. Mexico: vibrant culture and open arms
Ah, Mexico! More than just tacos and tequila, the country offers:
- warm people: Mexican hospitality wins any heart.
- Low cost of living: You can live well spending little.
- Easy adaptation: whoever goes, hardly wants to come back.
3. Indonesia: the perfect balance
Want to work and enjoy life in balanced doses? Indonesia has the magic recipe:
- Low cost of living: your pocket thanks you.
- Welcoming people: you will never feel alone.
- Career on the rise: mMany expats report great career opportunities.
And the list of Il Sole 24 Ore continues with Spain, Colombia, Thailand and, surprisingly, the Brazil among the favorites!
The ranking is based on data from InterNations, one of the largest global expat communities, which conducts annual surveys on the satisfaction of people living outside their home countries.
In the 2023 ranking, Brazil stood out for its ease of adaptation and the receptiveness of the local population, factors that contribute to a positive experience for immigrants.
And the worst countries? Not everything is rosy…
Finland: the happiest country?
Shocking, isn’t it? Even though Finland is known for its quality of life, it doesn’t appeal to expats. Why?
- High cost of living: the salary does not follow.
- Difficulty with language: speaking Finnish is harder than it seems.
- Complicated job market: not everything is as organized as they say.
Türkiye: last position in the ranking
Turkey may be culturally rich, but many expats are not happy:
- Limited labor market: your career prospects could plummet.
- Economic problems: dissatisfaction is general.
If you were thinking about Türkiye, it might be time to reconsider your plans.
