Monday, January 17th, everything is ready to celebrate the World Pizza Day, the symbol dish of Italy.
The date chosen to celebrate one of the most beloved Italian dishes was in honor of Sant'Antonio Abate, patron saint of pizzerias.
The festival was established in 2017, after the recognition of “The traditional art of the Neapolitan pizza maker”, as a Cultural Heritage of Humanity by Unesco.

The real Neapolitan pizza
A real Neapolitan pizza it was born, of course, under Vesuvius. The traditional recipe includes ingredients: tomato, buffalo mozzarella, basil and olive oil. And it must be baked in a wood-fired oven.
At the forefront – as tradition dictates – Neapolitan pizzerias spread across the world scheduled an online meeting, this 17th, for the World Pizza Day. An streaming marathon organized by Associazione Verace Pizza Napoletana, with interventions from all continents, including Brazil, including debates and classes from masters and pizza chefs.
The Margherita pizza
The pizza par excellence is Margherita: tomato, mozzarella and basil. Legend has it that it was invented with these three ingredients that resemble the tricolor flag, in honor of the Queen of Italy, Margherita of Savoy, by chef Raffaele Esposito da Brandi Pizzeria, in June 1889.

In addition to tomato, mozzarella and basil purists, there are those who put everything on their pizza.
And if today the pizza good gourmet food is a trend among chefs, with excellent results, in recent decades we have seen more imaginative interpretations of the recipe outside of Italy, including crabs in Paraná, crickets, kiwi, seaweed, pineapple, banana, marshmallow, suhi… And there is no shortage of imagination.

Around 200 people responded to the question, and 63% said they saw no problems with the ketchup + pizza combination. Of course, 37% – read the Italian community – remain very angry.
