Italy was responsible for sending around 14% of the international tourists who arrived in Ceará until August of this year. This result guarantees the European country the fourth place in the ranking of the main source markets of foreigners to the state, according to data from Embratur and the Federal Police.
By the end of the year, the expectation is that this proportion will grow, driven by the actions that the Government of Ceará, through the Tourism Secretariat (Setur), is carrying out in the country of origin of these visitors.
From October 9 to 11, Ceará will be present at the TTG Travel Experience, held at the Rimini Expo Center, in Italy. The fair, in its 61st edition, has established itself over the years as the main event for promoting tourism in the country.
Ceará's participation is an opportunity to strengthen partnerships with the Italian market, especially with local agents and operators, who are responsible for marketing travel packages, for example.

ANALYZE MY CASECeará's Secretary of Tourism, Yrwana Albuquerque, emphasizes that the state has its own stand at the event, which reinforces the importance of the fair for Ceará's tourism promotion policy. "This participation is very important, because we are being seen by the fourth largest source market of tourists to Ceará, a state that has been the leader in this segment among destinations in the Northeast region since April," she emphasizes.
Ceará's actions in the Italian market began even before the fair. In Naples, last Friday (4), and in Rome, on the evening of last Tuesday (8), Setur held two roadshows, events focused on sharing information about the destination with professionals in the sector. In total, around 300 people, including agents and operators, were trained. “These professionals greatly influence their clients. That is why the relationship is so important, and Ceará values this very much,” highlights Secretary Yrwana Albuquerque.
Strengthening the European market
Ceará, a state that is a reference in international tourist movement in the Northeast, stands out for its proximity to Europe and its direct connections with important countries in the region.
Portugal, the United States and France lead the ranking of countries sending tourists to the state, followed by Italy, which occupies fourth place.
TAP Air Portugal, which operates daily flights between Lisbon and Fortaleza, currently operates nine weekly flights, contributing significantly to the flow of visitors not only from Portugal and Spain, but also from Italy. (Ceara.gov)
