A sweet worth R$180. A curious police case caught attention this Sunday (21) in Italy. A businessman accused of tax evasion hid 40 euros – approximately R$180 – inside a stove, but saw the money turn to ashes after his fiancée used the oven to cook a strudel.

The episode was revealed during the trial of businessman Alberto Vazzoler, in Padua. According to authorities, the Italian kept large amounts of money inside his home, in San Donà di Piave (Venice), so as not to be discovered in a possible investigative “blitz”.

Furthermore, the police revealed that the Italian had an amount of 40 million euros in accounts in tax havens.

At the moment the money turned to dust, his fiancée, Silvia Moro, was talking on the phone with her sister and didn't realize that the bills were hidden inside the oven when she put the strudel in.
