Italian meme 'attenzione pickpocket!' is stolen in Venice

Italian councilor Monica Poli, viral on social media for her anti-theft alert “Attenzione pickpocket! Attenzione borseggiatrici!” was stolen this Thursday (17) in Venice, according to information from the newspaper Corriere della Sera.

According to the report, the TikTok celebrity – who later discovered that she is also a local politician – had the smartphone snatched from his hands as he was walking in Piazzale Roma.

The place is precisely one of the main places where she and other volunteers from the group “Cittadini Non Distratti” (Citizens Not Distracted, in Portuguese) usually warn, shouting and with a camera in hand, about the presence of pickpockets.

It is not yet known whether the event was a coincidence due to the large number of crimes in the historic city, or whether it was premeditated to intimidate the activist.

Monica Poli and the “Cittadini Non Distratti” social media accounts have not commented, and no new videos have been published since the alert.

In July, the group's videos, especially with Monica's characteristic voice, went viral and taught the internet the “catch thief!” Italian: “Attenzione pickpocket! Attenzione borseggiatrici!”
