A 100-year-old Italian woman renewed her driver's license in May and is now allowed to drive cars until 2024. Candida Uderzo, from the city of Sarcedo in Vicentino, in the province of Vicenza (Veneto), said the renewed license will allow her to continue her Sunday car rides.
“I recently renewed my license for another two years. With my small car I travel through the neighboring villages and before the storm Vaia, I got behind the wheel of my car and loved going looking for mushrooms in Marcesina, in the municipality of Gallio. I can’t give up on this passion,” Candida told the Italian newspaper The nation.
The elderly woman looked for a driving school in May, shortly after turning 100 years old. Candida explained that she hoped to get the renewal, but was not so sure that she would have the document revalidated. But, to her surprise, Italian authorities allowed her to drive cars until she turned 102.

According to the elderly woman, the secret to staying healthy and fit to drive is regular physical exercise. Candida has been walking since she turned 50 years old and hasn't stopped to this day.
This Sunday, she was honored on the 50th anniversary of “Giro delle Colombare“, a walk in which Candida has participated for 37 years.
“I never sit still. Not even with my legs, even today I clean the house and cultivate the garden. Not even with the language, because I love talking to friends. When I'm not walking, I use the bike to visit my sister Rita, who is 95 years old”, concluded Candida.
