The Italian government on Wednesday (11) recalled the 23rd anniversary of the terrorist attack on the World Trade Center in New York, which left almost 3 dead after the fall of the Twin Towers.
“There are days that will remain forever engraved in our minds.
Events that forever change the course of history and, with it, the lives of many citizens. September 11, 2001 was one of those dates,” highlighted the Prime Minister of Italy, Giorgia Meloni, in a post on social media.
In the message, she recalls that the terrorist attack was “devastating” and “struck the heart of the United States of America and the entire West.”
Finally, he directs his thoughts to the thousands of innocent victims and their families, 23 years after the tragedy, and reinforces the fight against terrorism.
“In his memory, our commitment to the fight against Islamic fundamentalism and all forms of terrorism continues, in defense of the values, freedom and democracy, pillars of our Constitution and our culture. We will not forget,” added the Italian Prime Minister.
In addition to Meloni, Italy's Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani also recalled the "23 years since the cowardly attack of September 11" and expressed his closeness.
“Italy stands close to the people of the United States, honoring the memory of the victims. Today, more than ever, it is essential to renew the commitment to peace and security against extremism and in defense of democratic values,” he concluded.
