Italy's Health Minister Roberto Speranza extended once again this Saturday (13) the ban on flights from Brazil due to the Sars-CoV-2 coronavirus variant.
The politician, however, did not say how long the decision would be valid.
“The fight against the pandemic does not stop. The spread of variants requires us to exercise maximum caution. Therefore, I have just signed the extension of entry restrictions for travelers from Brazil, admitting the entry only for those who reside in Italy or in exceptional cases”, he wrote in your Facebook.
In the announcement, Speranza also stated that anyone who falls within the exceptional circumstances will need to “submit to the test before departure and upon arrival and at the mandatory 14-day isolation with a new final test.”
“The order also introduces testing and isolation for travelers from Austria where the South African variant is circulating,” the statement concludes.
The first ban on flights to and from Brazil had been announced by the Italian government on January 16th and was renewed on the 30th of the same month.
The rule was valid until this Monday (15). (loop)
