The Italian government decided this Thursday (29) to extend restrictive measures for travelers who have been to Brazil, Bangladesh, India and Sri Lanka.
The decision was announced by Italy's Health Minister Roberto Speranza in a Facebook post after the decree was signed.
The measure also confirms that all visitors from countries outside the European Union (EU) must comply with a 10-day quarantine, while travelers from nations within the bloc must remain isolated for five days.
Furthermore, the “mini quarantine” must also be carried out by citizens from the United Kingdom, whose health certificates of vaccination or cure can be used on Italian territory. The decision is in line with that taken by Prime Minister Boris Johnson's government, which allows the entry of citizens from both EU countries and the United States, as long as the vaccination cycle has been completed.
The signed decree also provides for the entry of people who live in European countries or who are part of the area of a Schengen, as well as Canada, Japan and the United States, upon presentation of the green certificate.
Currently, the European country only allows entry to those who have a permanent residence in Italy. Or even those who have spouses or children in the same condition. Everyone must respect the quarantine and present three negative tests for Covid-19: upon boarding, upon arrival (or up to 48 hours later) and after the isolation period.
The Italian government has been on alert for a few days due to the expansion of cases of the new coronavirus (Sars-CoV-2). The epidemiological situation even made Italy announce that it will now require a certificate of vaccination, cure or negative test for access to various activities, such as public swimming pools, gyms, fairs, congresses, shows and covered areas of bars and restaurants. To date, the country has accumulated more than 4,3 million infections and 128.029 deaths in the pandemic. (ANSA)
