Italy expects a record number of foreign tourists in the winter of 2025.

Approximately 14,4 million foreign tourists are expected to visit Italy during the winter of 2025/26. This number represents a 21,1% increase compared to the previous season.

The data comes from a study by the Demoskopika institute, and was released by ANSA. According to the survey, international visitors are expected to account for 52 million overnight stays in the country, a 28,8% increase compared to last winter.

Including Italian tourists, the total number of travelers during the winter season is expected to reach 29,7 million people, an increase of 8,2%. The number of overnight stays is expected to reach 93 million, a rise of 14,3%.

The winter season runs from December to March and will feature... Milan and Cortina d'Ampezzo Winter Olympic Games, scheduled for February 2026.

The study also estimates a 9,1% growth in direct tourism spending, which should reach 14,8 billion euros, equivalent to approximately R$ 92 billion.

Commenting on the data, the Italian Minister of Tourism, Daniela Santanchè, stated:
"The forecasts for the winter season confirm the extraordinary vitality and unwavering attractiveness of our country on the international tourism scene."

“Now, our main commitment is to ensure that this growth is consistent across all its components, developing new initiatives that prioritize the appreciation and promotion of our lesser-known destinations, an essential factor for the balance and overall sustainability of the entire national tourism industry,” said Santanchè.
