“It has no cultural interest”: the site could be demolished to build a new stadium

A local commission formed by the Italian Ministry of Cultural Heritage and Activities and Tourism has raised no objection to the demolition of the Giuseppe Meazza stadium in Milan's San Siro district, arguing that the site has "no cultural interest".

The information is from the Italian website “Tuttosport” this Thursday (21).

In Portuguese, the expression may be strange, but in Italian it is used to define buildings that do not retain original/historical architectural aspects that justify preservation protected by law. Something equivalent to the law of overturning in Brazil.

When evaluating the house where they play Milan e Inter milan On the 13th, the commission concluded that there are not enough traces of the origins of the venue, built in 1925. The stadium has already undergone three major renovations, in 1955, 1990 (which gave it its current form) and 2015.

Thus, the site can be demolished to build a new stadium, a joint desire of the Milan and Inter boards. In fact, one of the plans is to build a modern arena (without an athletics track) in the same location by 2024.

The new house would have investment from both teams and also from the city council. The design must favor aspects that are in common with rivals, in addition to having a style closer to the Milan Duomo and the Vittorio Emanuele Gallery, two tourist attractions in the city.

The Milan stadium was built in 1925 in the San Siro neighborhood (as it is also known) by Milan, the first owner. But in 1935 the club handed over the administration of the site to the city council. It was titled Giuseppe Meazza in 1980.

Built in 1925

Since the construction of the stadium Juventus in 2011 (today known as Allianz Stadium), Italian clubs began evaluating plans to remodel or build arenas. THE CagliariFiorentina and Udinese they did that.

Lazio e Rome They also have the idea of building a new stadium, just like the Verona teams.
