Brazil is part of the Italian action to promote “Made in Italy”
To expand the dissemination of culture and language around the world, Italy has set aside approximately 2019 million euros, more than 50 million reais, in its 200 budget.
Part of this resource is already being invested in partnerships with Brazilian municipalities through agreements with the Italian embassy and consulates.
In 2018, Italy invested around 30 million euros to promote its main product, “Made in Italy”. Number well above 20 million euros in 2017.
For Ricardo Merlo, undersecretary of the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, culture and language are Italy's treasure and identity. “It’s what sets us apart in the world, more than anything else,” he said.
According to data from SIL International, an organization for linguistic research, the Italian language is already the fourth most studied language in the world, behind only English, Spanish and Mandarin.
