Italy equaled in the Paris Olympics the record of 40 medals obtained at the Tokyo Games in 2021, but with greater number of diamonds, which guaranteed the best Olympic campaign in the country's history.

In 2024, the Azzurri delegation won 12 golds, 13 silvers and 15 bronzes, compared to 10, 10 and 20 in the previous edition of the Olympics – the record for golds continues with participation in Los Angeles-1984, with 14.
“The 40 medals won are confirmation of Italy as a protagonist in world sport”, said this Sunday (11) the president of the Italian National Olympic Committee (Coni), Giovanni Malagò. “We also increased the number of finals reached: 79, against 67 [in Tokyo]”, added the top hat.
Italy finished ninth in the medal table (or seventh, when only the total is taken into account, regardless of color), and reached the podium in 19 sports: fencing (five); swimming (five); sports shooting (four); athletics, track cycling and artistic gymnastics, with three times each; rhythmic gymnastics, rowing, tennis and sailing, with two each; and slalom canoeing, sprint canoeing, road cycling, judo, weightlifting, aquatic marathon, modern pentathlon, taekwondo and volleyball, with one each.
“Congratulations to all the Italians who participated in the Paris Olympic Games, thank you for embodying the best of the Olympic spirit. We are proud of you”, said the prime minister Giorgia Meloni.
The country's gold medals were won by Giovanni de Gennaro (individual kayak in canoeing slalom), Chiara Consonni and Vittoria Guazzini (women's madison in track cycling), women's team epee (fencing), Alice D'Amato (beam in artistic gymnastics), Alice Bellandi (judo up to 78kg), Thomas Ceccon (100m backstroke in swimming), Nicolò Martinenghi (100m breaststroke), Sara Errani and Jasmine Paolini (women's doubles in tennis), mixed teams in skeet (sports shooting), Marta Maggetti (women's windsurfing), Ruggero Tita and Caterina Banti (mixed multihull sailing) and the women's volleyball team.
Of the 40 Italian medals, 18 (five gold, six silver and seven bronze) were won by athletes from the “Golden Flames”, a State Police sports club. (Handle)
