The Italian Government has ensured that the rights of Italian-Brazilian drivers, who benefited from the previous agreement on the conversion of driving licenses, remain valid, even as the new treaty, signed in July, awaits ratification by Brazil's National Congress.
Guaranteed rights
A central concern of thousands of Italian-Brazilians has been resolved: who has already completed the conversion of Brazilian driver's license to Italian will continue to have the document fully valid, in accordance with current laws.
This decision brings security and peace of mind to drivers who depend on the document for their daily activities in Italy. In addition, it reinforces the protection of citizens' rights during the transition period between the agreements.
Official position
“After months of requests and pressure on the authorities of both countries, I thank the Italian Government for affirming its willingness to guarantee continuity and protection for the citizens involved, despite the wait for the ratification of the new agreement by Brazil. This confirmation responds concretely to the needs of the citizens of both countries”, highlighted the deputy. Fabio Porta in note to Italianism.
With this decision, the Italian-Brazilian communities continue to be supported, while the Italian and Brazilian authorities work to finalize the legislative process of the new agreement.
