Italy has sent around 130 million euros to build a lunar surface habitable module that will be used during NASA's Artemis program, which includes returning astronauts to the Moon and exploring Mars.
The assembly of the so-called "Lunar Surface Multi-Purpose Habitation Module" is coordinated by the Italian Space Agency (ASI), while the amount allocated by Rome is part of the country's share of its funding for the program.
“The funds for the program represent a strengthening of the historic relations between Italy and the United States in Space and a further recognition of the capabilities of our industry in the field of habitation modules among the stars,” celebrated ASI President Teodoro Valente on his LinkedIn profile.
The person responsible for the Italian agency also mentioned that 2025 will be a year marked by “intense work”.
NASA Administrator Bill Nelson has stated in the past that man will return to lunar orbit in September 2025, while he will set foot on lunar soil again in late 2026. (HANDLE)
