Italy's Interior Ministry announced this week that in 2022 it will issue only69.700 visas for non-EU seasonal and non-seasonal workers, as well as self-employed workers.
This is a maximum number of authorizations, according topress release. The rule has already beenpublished in the Official Gazette.
According to official data, in 2019 Italy had two and a half million non-Italians working in the country, i.e. 10,7% of Italy's total workforce. 642 thousand of them were employed in collective and personal services, 466 thousand in wholesale and retail and another 235 thousand in construction.
Two69.700 work visas reserved for foreigners in 2022, 42 thousand will go toagricultural sectors and hotel-tourist.
Also according to the decree, 20 thousand permits were reserved for the sectors of transporting goods for third parties and construction.
Another 7.700 permits are reserved for third-country nationals who have completed training and education programs. Priority for workers Italian origin residents of Venezuela, for example.
