The penultimate round of the European Qualifiers could determine which team advances from Group C. Italy and Switzerland face off in Rome at 16:45 PM (Brasilia time) this Friday, in a direct clash for the top spot.
The two teams have 14 points. The Italians are ahead of the Swiss based on the tiebreaker criteria.
The coach Roberto Mancini stated that the home factor will be fundamental for Italy to be able to win the place for the World Cup.
“The Olympics will be very important. It's going to be a good game and we're going to play well. An important game, but if we do what we know, we will have many possibilities. It's the most important game because it gives us the opportunity to go to the World Cup and because Switzerland plays excellent football. We will have to be aggressive as always,” he said.
For Switzerland, victory is necessary to avoid a stumble by the current European Cup champion in the last round.
