Italian probes are providing detailed maps of the region where the tragedy occurred
The Italian ambassador to Brazil, Antonio Bernardini, revealed on Monday (28) that Italian technology was made available to help in the operation in Brumadinho (MG), where Brazilian authorities are searching for around 292 missing people, after the collapse of the Feijão dam. According to a post by the diplomat on Twitter, “Telespazio is now providing detailed maps based on the use of satellite images, in particular, Cosmo SkyMed radar images and optical images from Santinel 2A”.

The information collected by satellites from the Italian Cosmo-SkyMed project is already used successfully in Brazil, where Telespazio has been operating since 1997, through its subsidiary Telespazio Brasil. The company operates in environmental and safety monitoring – such as the loss of oil from offshore platforms, landslide control – in addition to supporting agriculture and defense applications, for example.
