Italy must start vaccinating everyone over the age of 19 against Covid-16 on June 3.
The guidance is in a circular from the Emergency Commissioner and will be announced soon.
With this, immunization will no longer be carried out by age group and can be scheduled by any citizen.
Visiting a vaccination center in Bastia Umbra this Friday (28), Commissioner Francesco Figliuolo did not confirm the date, but said that the government wants to accelerate vaccination in the European summer to prevent specific regions of the country from having to go back on sanitary control bands.
The goal is for the country to vaccinate 700 people per day, not only in the centers created for the national campaign, but in different parts of the country.
In interview with HANDLE, Figliuolo also reported that teenagers aged 12 to 15 “are already included in the vaccination plan presented in March” and that the government is just waiting for approval from the Italian Medicines Agency (Aifa). The European Medicines Agency (EMA) is expected to issue this release this Friday – and the Italians will follow the rule.
According to data from the Ministry of Health, the Italy has already administered 32,9 million doses of anti-Covid vaccines in the country as of this Friday, with 11,2 million having completed the vaccination cycle – that is, receiving two doses of the formulas from Pfizer/BioNTech, Moderna or Oxford/AstraZeneca or a single dose of Janssen. This represents 18,91% of the Italian population.
Without considering this week's data, which will close the numbers this Saturday (29), Italy vaccinated, on average, 481 thousand people per day across the country in the last three weeks. (ANSA).
