ITA Airways is preparing to launch its new direct Rio-Rome flight, with operations beginning on October 30th. To celebrate the anticipation surrounding this route, the country manager of ITA Airways in Brazil, Andrea Taddei, and RIOgaleão international airport held an event highlighting the benefits of this initiative and the cultural connection between the two destinations.
“Today marks an intermediate phase in the wait for the new route, which we are very much looking forward to. Several authorities participated, demonstrating the importance of the initiative. We are eager to get started,” said Taddei.
With daily frequency, the Ita Airways Airbus 330-900 will depart RIOgaleão at 15:45 PM and arrive in Rome at 6:45 AM. In the opposite direction, Rome-Rio, boarding will take place at 21:50 PM, with an estimated arrival at 6:05 AM. The aircraft has a total of 291 seats distributed in 30 Business Class, 24 Premium and 237 Economy (including 36 Economy Comfort).
This will be ITA's third direct flight connecting Latin America with Italy and the second destination activated in Brazil, after São Paulo.
The Tourism Secretaries of the state and city of Rio, Gustavo Tutuca and Daniela Maia, emphasized the importance of working together to strengthen relations. Patrick Fehring, Aero Business director at the terminal, noted that Italy was, until then, the largest market without direct flights and that this dynamic will change at the end of October.
Furthermore, from October onwards, a new coordination between Galeão and the Santos Dumont domestic airport will result in several national flights operating at the international terminal, further enriching the flight offer.
