A music “Io Sì”, performed by Italian Laura Pausini, won the Golden Globe for Best Original Song late this Sunday night (28).
The trail is part of the feature film “Rosa and Momo” (“La Vita Davanti a Sé”), by Edoardo Ponti, and is the result of collaboration between Pausini, Diane Warren and Niccolò Agliardi.
“I never dreamed of winning a Golden Globe, I can't believe it.
I dedicate this award to all those who want and deserve to be seen and to that young woman who won Sanremo 28 years ago and never expected to get this far. All my gratitude and respect to the wonderful Sophia Loren, it was an honor to give voice to your character, to convey such an important message of welcome and unity”, said Pausini in his speech upon receiving the honor.
The singer also thanked “Italy, my family, everyone who chose me and chose my music and helped me become who I am today.” “And also to my daughter, who from today onwards remembers the joy in my eyes, hoping that she grows up and always continues to believe in her dreams”, she added.
Pausini also highlighted the fact that she was the first woman to win a Golden Globe “with a soundtrack entirely in Italian”. This was the first collaboration between the Italian singer and Warren, the American composer who has been nominated 11 times for an Oscar.
“Rosa e Momo”, available on Netflix, is an adaptation of the book by Romain Gary, and tells the story of Loren (Madame Rosa), a Holocaust survivor and former prostitute who takes care of her family, by adopting Momo (Ibrahima Guye) , an orphan of Senegalese immigrants who loses his mother violently and commits petty theft in Naples.
