No expectations
Italy closed its airports and borders to citizens from different parts of the world, including Brazil, to try to contain the spread of Covid-19.
As a result, those who planned to travel to Italy later this year had to change their plans.
“Many interested in the process carried out in Italy, the one where you need to take up residence for a while, believed that the country would open its borders for flights from Brazil, but there is no forecast in the short term”, he says Reginaldo Maia, customer service director at Blessed Citizenship, a company specializing in Italian citizenship recognition processes through the Court of Rome.
Why the judicial route?
The delay of 10 to 15 years for Italian consulates to analyze applications and the wave of cancellation of citizenships in Italy, motivated by cases of corruption and false residence, has increased the demand for legal proceedings in the Civil Court of Rome.
According to Maia, to guarantee the right to the application, in accordance with Italian law, the applicant can file a lawsuit in the Civil Court of Rome.
The argument used is that Italian consulates in Brazil are not complying with Italian law. For this to be true, one needs to be in line at the consulate.
Therefore, with a public power of attorney, specific to the process, and the documents to file the lawsuit, the lawyer (registered in Italy) will carry out the entire procedure on behalf of the applicant.
The progress of the process can be monitored online by the interested party.
