The Legislative Assembly of Espírito Santo (ALES) held a solemn session on Thursday, October 17, in honor of the contribution of Italian immigration to the state. Led by the president of ALES, deputy Marcelo Santos, the ceremony highlighted the profound impact of Italian heritage on the historical and cultural development and family values of Espírito Santo.

During the event, the Gerson Camata Award was awarded to individuals and entities that stand out in the preservation and promotion of Italian culture. Created by Resolution No. 03/2024, the honor pays tribute to former governor Gerson Camata, a descendant of Italian immigrants and an important figure in Espírito Santo politics.
The celebration also marked 150 years of Italian immigration to Brazil, highlighting Espírito Santo as one of the main destinations for the first Italian immigrants.

The Gerson Camata Award was granted to several personalities during the session, reinforcing the role of the Italian-Brazilian community in preserving its roots.
Among those honored, the following stood out: Libian Timm Paganoto, founder and coordinator of Grupo Folkloristico Piccolo Pavone, the oldest Italian dance group in the state, and responsible for CECIVIP — Italian Culture Center of Vila Pavão.
Libian's work in promoting Italian culture in the municipality of Vila Pavão was praised during the ceremony, with the award highlighting his dedication to preserving cultural traditions that help keep the Italian heritage alive in Espírito Santo.
The event was attended by several authorities, including the Italian ambassador to Brazil, Alessandro Cortese.
