The entire menu at Osteria Gucci, located in Florence, Italy, was created by Italian chef Massimo Bottura, considered one of the best in the world
Italian fashion house Gucci has just put its stamp on something other than its famous handbags, clothes, shoes and accessories: a restaurant in Florence, Italy. Named Osteria Gucci, the restaurant opened its doors a few days ago, on January 9, with an opening dinner for invited guests. But it wasn't just any dinner. After all, the person in charge of the kitchen on this first night was the Italian Michelin-starred chef Massimo Bottura, from Osteria Francescana (also in Italy, in Modena).
The menu, according to what Gucci itself announced, is entirely made up of classic and contemporary Italian dishes. The chef created an exclusive menu for the restaurant, in which he took references from his travels around the world and applied them to typical Italian cuisine. “Our cuisine interacts with everything we see, hear and taste,” he said.
The menu was entirely created by him, but the person who will run the restaurant will be the Mexican chef Karime Lopez Kondo. She has worked at Peruvian Central, owned by chef Virgilio Martinez, and is the wife of Taka Kondo, sous-chef at Osteria Francescana.
On the opening night, among the dishes presented were the famous tortellini that is served at Osteria Francescana, with parmesan cheese; the Italian classic Cacio e Pepe, pasta with cheese and black pepper; a reinterpretation of a hot dog and even a mini hamburger; as well as tortillas and Thai eggplant tacos (a tribute to chef Karine's nationality). Individual dishes cost between 15 and 30 euros (between R$60 and R$120, more or less).
There is also a selection of ten desserts, in addition to a wine list with French and Italian labels. Information about the menu is from the Italian website Agrodolce.
Osteria Gucci seats up to 50 people and is located on the first floor of the brand's new concept store, Gucci Garden, in Florence, Italy. Both are part of a project called Gucci Museo and are located in a historic building in the city, the Palazzo Della Mercanzia. The building dates back to 1337 and is considered one of the most important in the region. To enter the site, you must pay an entrance fee of 8 euros (around R$32), half of which is converted into restoration projects in Florence. For those eating at the restaurant, reservations are accepted from 12pm to 20:30pm.
