The princess of Mônaco Grace Kelly (1929-1982) will be honored by Casino de Sanremo, the Liguria, northern Italy, during the 3rd Italian Haute Couture Festival, which takes place from August 31st to September 15th.
The Hollywood star, who died in a car accident in 1982, will have an exhibition in her name featuring photographs and dresses belonging to the Grimaldi collection, in a private room.
Grace is considered one of the timeless symbols of elegance and glamour. Among the great international designers who have dressed her are the French Yves Saint Laurent and the Spanish Cristóbal Balenciaga.
“Sanremo and its Casino have always strengthened the link with the neighboring Côte d'Azur [in France] and in particular with the Principality of Monaco.
Prince Rainier III and Princess Grace enjoyed the Riviera di Ponente [in Liguria], spending leisure time in the shopping facilities and the Casino, attending some gala dinners immortalized by photos that reflect the elegance, authority and empathy they conveyed,” said Gian Carlo Ghinamo, president and CEO of the Casino, who thanked Prince Albert II, Grace’s son, for providing the material for the exhibition.
