Sale of the state-owned part of Alitalia was postponed to include a supposed joint venture proposal
Again the sale of the state part of Alitalia was postponed by the Italian Government, now to include a supposed proposal that will be presented by the state-owned Ferrovie dello Stato (FS).
In addition, other companies such as Delta and Air France-KLM plan to make a long-term joint venture between the companies, together with FS. All these companies can share the stake in Alitalia.
“After receiving a request from Alitalia's extraordinary commissioners to extend the deadline for submitting a binding offer from FS, Minister Luigi Di Maio authorized the extension of the deadline to June 15”, said Italy's Ministry of Economic Development and Labor.
In the end, the shareholding of Alitalia can be carried out as follows: 55% of the shares for FS, 15% for Delta, 15% for Atlantia and 15% for the Italian Treasury.
The company has been under intervention for two years, after a serious financial crisis that almost resulted in the company's bankruptcy. Despite this, in recent quarters Alitalia has been presenting consistent results, which show an improvement in its management.
