The Italian government has launched a call for applications for scholarships for university students for the 2025/2026 academic year, as part of a program dedicated to the memory of young Giulia Cecchettin, murdered by her ex-boyfriend in November 2023, in a case that shocked Italy and highlighted the problems of femicide in the country.
The 22-year-old Italian was a Biomedical Engineering student and became a symbol of the fight against gender-based violence.
His tragic story inspired the creation of scholarships under the “Invest Your Talent in Italy” (IYT) program.
The Universities of Bergamo, Brescia, Florence, Parma, Tuscia and the Ca' Foscari University of Venice have confirmed their availability to fund scholarships for successful candidates who choose to enroll at one of these institutions.
Interested students must submit their application exclusively online, accessing the official platform by February 24, 2025 at the latest.
The “Invest Your Talent in Italy” program promotes the internationalization of the Italian university system as a center of excellence, offering foreign students a unique educational path and the opportunity to build a successful career.
All master's and postgraduate courses in strategic areas, such as Engineering/Advanced Technologies; Architecture/Design; and Economics and Management, are taught entirely in English.
In addition, the student will receive practical training in Italian companies and a 9-month scholarship as financial support.
Since the Academic Year 2023-2024, all IYT fellows also participate in seminars on gender equality and combating violence, promoting a positive and global impact. (HANDLE)
