Gondoliers from Veneza have launched a guide to help tourists discover secrets and hidden itineraries in one of Italy's busiest cities. The idea behind the publication is to tell the city's hidden gems capital of Veneto through the eyes of those who experience it daily at the helm of their gondolas.
Venezia: La Guida Officiale dei Gondolieri is available in both physical and Interactive and presents seven itineraries that range from more traditional points, such as the overcrowded San Marco Square, to attractions still immune to mass tourism.
Six itineraries focus on historic center of Venice, while the seventh focuses on islands, such as Murano, famous for its glass crafts, and Burano.
One of the itineraries, called “Like the Venetians”, lists a series of places from daily life in the city, such as the Ghetto synagogues, Jewish Museum and a number of churches outside the busiest areas.
The “Eclectic Venice” itinerary presents churches, museums and foundations that constitute the “beating heart” of cultural life in the city. The guide is the result of a partnership between the Venice Gondoliers Association and the publisher Linea d'Acqua.
The guide is available in Italian, French and English and can be accessed here.
