The leader of the Brothers of Italy (FdI) party, Giorgia Meloni, accepted this Friday (21) the invitation of the president Sergio Mattarella to form a new government in the country. This means that she could be Prime Minister of Italy, with only Congress's approval.
It will be the 68th Italian government in 76 years, which was sent after three weeks of negotiations to smooth out the rough edges within the right-wing tripartite coalition. This coalition won the legislative elections on September 25.
If there are no new facts, Meloni will be the first woman to head a new Italian government. She must govern side by side with Matteo Salvini's League and former Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi's Forza Italia, confirming the alliance signed for the elections.
