Regional law already authorizes the burial of pets with their owners
The city of Genoa in northwestern Italy will have a cemetery for pets.
The project is the result of a motion presented by councilors Francesco De Benedictis and Alberto Campanella and approved unanimously in the City Council.
The person responsible for Genoa's cemeteries, Massimo Nicolò, has already given a favorable opinion and said that the pets' remains will be kept in burial urns.
The objective of the exclusive cemetery for animals is to develop the project with the participation of associations defending animal rights and provide services, such as cremation, to the private sector.
A law approved this year by the Legislative Assembly of Liguria, where Genova, already authorizes the burial of pets in the graves of their owners. (Handle)
