The Brazilian Association of Genealogists will participate in RootsTech 2026The Genealogy Conference, considered the largest genealogy conference in the world, takes place annually in Salt Lake City, United States, and brings together researchers, archivists, historians, and institutions dedicated to family history and the preservation of memory.

In this edition, which takes place between March 5th and 7th, the association will be represented by a delegation of members and founders. In total, more than 20 lectures will be given by members of the organization during the event's program.

The topics covered include genealogical research methodology, historical documentation, citizenship, and family history.

Lectures on Italian citizenship

Among the highlights is the genealogist. Daniel Taddone, founder of the association. He will give three lectures dedicated to the topic of Italian citizenship, a subject of interest to descendants of immigrants and researchers of family history.

Furthermore, five founders of APGBR will be among the speakers at the conference, participating in international debates on genealogical research and document preservation.

Participation in an international symposium

The entity's institutional participation also includes a presence in Archives and Records Custodians Symposium, a parallel event that brings together archivists, collection managers, and invited specialists to discuss the role of archives in preserving historical memory and providing access to documentary sources.

They will represent the association at the symposium. Viviane Pompeu, president of APGBR, Rachel Zanella, vice president, Daniel Taddone, Director of Training, Fernanda Zanini, director of communication and events, and Barbara Ferrera, who is also the director of communications and events. They are all founders of the organization.

“Participating in RootsTech is an opportunity to showcase to the international scene the strength of Brazilian genealogical research and the serious work that has been developed by professionals in the country. APGBR was created with the purpose of strengthening genealogy as a field of research, memory, and identity,” says Viviane Pompeu, president of the Brazilian Association of Genealogical Professionals.

Growth of genealogy in Brazil

In a country marked by intense migratory processes and great cultural diversity, genealogy has assumed an increasingly important role in the reconstruction of identities and in the valorization of collective memory.

APGBR's presence at RootsTech 2026 broadens the dialogue between researchers, institutions, and archives, and places Brazil at the center of international discussions on memory, identity, and historical heritage.
