Never mess with a hungry Italian. What was supposed to be just dinner ended in a police report, a brawl, and even a fire. A 60-year-old man was reported to Italian police after causing a disturbance at a restaurant in Sperlonga, in the Lazio.
According to the city's police, the citizen, a resident of the province of Naples, entered the place visibly drunk and insisted on eating, even though the kitchen had already closed.
Unsuccessful in his request, the man began a spectacle worthy of an Italian soap opera: he harassed customers, threatened the owners with a bottle and, as if that weren't enough, threw stones at the restaurant as he left.
Two days later, as if he never forgets a poorly served dish, he returned to the place and set fire to papers that were in an outside trash can. The fire was quickly brought under control by the owners themselves.
But the incident didn't end there. Later that night, the man ran over the wife of one of the owners, who was cycling nearby. She suffered minor injuries after falling onto the sidewalk.
With his boldness at an all-time high, the accused even went to the police station to claim he had been beaten by restaurant employees. However, investigations revealed the story was fabricated: no fractures, just an attempt to reverse the roles.
Thanks to security camera footage and statements collected, police decided to charge the man with threats, assault, arson, and slander.
