Wearing a bulletproof vest and carrying a helmet, Claudi lifts the child, between 6 and 7 years old, taking him out of the arms of a man who hands him over to get away from the group of people, made up mainly of women and children.

In a post on Twitter, the secretary general of Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ettore Sequi, thanked the Italian consul for his efforts. “Thank you Tommaso,” he wrote.

Claudi remained in Kabul to coordinate the evacuation operations of Italian and Afghan citizens from the Asian country, since the Islamic fundamentalist group Taliban took over the Asian country on August 15. In total, around 2 thousand refugees were evacuated by Italy. (Handle)
