The National Institute of Physics and Volcanology reported this Saturday (18) that a 4,5 magnitude earthquake hit an area on the outskirts of the Italian city of Milan.
According to seismologists, the earthquake occurred at 11:34 am local time (7:34 am Brasília time), with the epicenter located at a depth of 26 km, near the city of Bonate Sotto, around Bergamo.
At 11,57 a second earthquake occurred, of smaller magnitude (the estimate is 2,2) with its epicenter in Osio Sotto.
For now, there are no reports of injuries or damage to infrastructure. “I am in contact with Civil Protection, at the moment we have no reports of damage to people or things”, said the president of the Lombardy Region, Attilio Fontana.
Firefighters said they received no calls or requests for help.
Brazilians living in Milan and nearby cities felt the tremor. “I felt strong. I thought the elevator had collapsed”, wrote Eva Mello, in the group Brazilians in Milan, on Facebook.
“I live in Como and I felt it very strongly. I live on the third floor (floor), the furniture was shaking” said Ana Carla Neto.
“I felt very strong here in Pavia and I was very scared, the first time I have experienced this”, reported Louise Duarte.
“I felt it in Sesto San Giovanni, the whole house shook,” wrote Taiane Oliveira.
The earthquake was clearly felt throughout the province of Bergamo and Brescia, but also in Pavia, Como and Brianza.
