According to Il Tempo, negotiations for the sale of the Spin Time building to the municipality of Rome failed after more than two hours of meetings at City Hall. The Investire Sgr fund, which owns the property, rejected the proposals from the municipal administration. The closed faces of participants such as Cardinal Baldo Reina and advisor Tobia Zevi as they left the meeting confirmed the impasse. Mayor Gualtieri left the meeting directly for the Campidoglio, where he summoned a delegation from Spin Time.
The case involves 13 years of irregular occupation tolerated by the public authorities, which has already cost the Viminale 21 million euros in compensation to the owners. After a fire on July 29th, the building was sequestered and firefighters declared it dangerous. Hundreds of people are camped on the street. The priority now is to remove the occupants from the sidewalk. A recent incident aggravated the pressure: an 18-month-old child became ill at the site.
