According to Sky TG24, Fulvio Lucisano, one of the longest-serving and most important figures in the Italian film industry, died at the age of 98. The news was shared by his daughter, Paola Lucisano, on social media, echoing a tribute from journalist Sergio Fabi, who remembered him as the last representative of a generation of great producers. Born in Rome on August 1, 1928, Lucisano had celebrated his 98th birthday a few weeks earlier.
Lucisano founded Italian International Film (IIF) in 1958, one of the oldest and most active Italian film production and distribution companies. IIF productions have won five David di Donatello awards, four Nastri d'Argento awards, and two Academy Award nominations. The APA credits the company with producing over 150 films, in addition to extensive distribution activity.
Cinema entered his life early. In 1949 he participated in “Anno Santo”, a documentary about the Jubilee of 1950, and the following year he began collaborating with the Istituto Luce. He graduated in Law from La Sapienza University in Rome in 1954, and directed his first feature film in 1955. He worked with Mario Bava, Mauro Bolognini, Luigi Comencini, Lina Wertmüller and Francesca Archibugi, and also produced “Notte prima degli esami” and “Ex”.
