According to the newspaper Il Tempo, Gomes Clesio Tavares is officially a fugitive and is the subject of an arrest warrant for being considered the operational link between Valter Lavitola and the group that allegedly carried out the attack against Sigfrido Ranucci, journalist and presenter of the investigative program Report. Both Tavares and Lavitola are charged with conspiracy to possess, carry in a public place and use explosives, threats and damage, with the aggravating circumstance of using a mafia-style method.
The 198-page court decision reveals that the three had known each other since at least January 2022. On January 25, 2025, Lavitola sent Ranucci a photo of the three of them embracing, which Gomes had received with the caption: “This photo came out this morning with the inscription 'the best of January 2022'.”
