According to the RaiNews portal, Federcarrozzieri, the Italian association for the vehicle repair sector, issued a warning about the risks of extreme heat for automobiles. In the most serious cases, damage can reach €16 per vehicle. Tires are the first to suffer: when the asphalt exceeds 60 degrees Celsius, the rubber wears out faster and grip on the road decreases. The battery is also affected, as the heat accelerates self-discharge and the evaporation of internal fluids. The engine faces a risk of overheating, and the oil tends to lose viscosity.

The interior of a car can reach 70 degrees Celsius when exposed to the sun for hours, a temperature high enough to warp plastics, damage trim, and age fabrics and upholstery.
