According to the newspaper Corriere della Sera, the Bishop of Pinerolo, Derio Olivero, revealed that he visited Francesco Guccini in April at the singer's home in Pavana, and that Guccini told him: "I have little time left, I already expect the end." Olivero was accompanied by the Cardinal of Bologna, Matteo Zuppi, and Father Luigi Verdi. The three even sang songs by the composer while he listened. At one point, Guccini also sang a song in Bolognese about the Resistance.
Francesco Guccini is one of the greatest Italian singers and songwriters, known for lyrics with strong poetic and political content. Olivero described the artist as someone open-minded, never ideological, who recognized the Bible as great literature.
