You've probably already seen the image of Lady GaGa on our Instagram Rome, scheduled to record the film “House of Gucci” last week.
Now more images have just emerged of GaGa as Patrizia Reggiani, alongside actor Adam Driver who, in turn, will play Maurizio Gucci – heir to the Maison and grandson of Guccio Gucci – on screen.
In addition to the two big names, the production also features Jared Leto, Robert de Niro, Jack Huston, Reeve Carvey, Al Pacino and is directed by heavyweight Ridley Scott, from Gladiator.
The production is due to premiere on November 24 this year, and tells the story of the murder of Maurizio Gucci, ordered by his own wife (played by Lady GaGa in the film), after allegedly discovering his infidelity.
Ridley Scott's screenplay was based on the book “Gucci House: A Story of Glamour, Greed, Madness and Death”, by journalist Sara Gay Forden.
What actually happened
In 1995, the murder of Maurizio Gucci, heir to the Italian fashion house, shocked Italy and the world.
Maurizio, grandson of the brand's creator, Guccio Gucci, was shot dead in his own office by Benedetto Ceraulo, a hired killer, who ended up being sentenced to life in prison.
A little later, it would be discovered that the person who ordered the crime was his own wife, Patrizia Reggiani, who was sentenced to a sentence of 26 years in prison (reduced to 17) and has already been served. Today she lives in freedom.
The marriage disapproved by the Gucci family
Maurizio and Patrizia got married in 1972, much to the chagrin of the family who disapproved of the union because Patrizia Reggiani was the daughter of a washerwoman and she was treated within the family as the Black Widow (black widow) by Gucci.
The couple had two daughters, Allegra and Alessandra, and remained together for 15 years, as an Italian model couple, until 1987.
With the separation, Patrizia had to give up the luxurious life she had with her businessman.
Maurizio Gucci was then murdered in 1995. The motive for the crime remains unclear to this day, although many point out that Reggiani was furious when, upon recovering from a critical medical condition, she discovered that her ex-husband was living with another woman.
Patrizia Reggiani admitted to the crime but never revealed her motivation and even said that she will never reveal it, making the mystery surrounding this story worthy of fiction remain alive and now be told by Hollywood.
Three other people were also convicted of the crime, including the getaway driver, Orazio Cicala (29 years in prison), Ivano Savioni (26 years) and Pina Auriemma (25 years in prison), a psychic and friend of Patrizia Reggiani who, allegedly, would have influenced – or blackmailed – her to commit the crime.
The murder took place two years after the sale of Gucci to Investcorp in 1993.
