The town of New Immigrant Sale, in the mountainous region of Espírito Santo, is buzzing with the 45th Polenta Festival. The event, which takes place at the Padre Cleto Caliman Events Center, better known as Polentão, is a celebration of Italian culture and the delicious delicacy that is polenta.
The party started on the 6th of October and continues until the 15th, Saturday, promising to attract a crowd of tourists from all over the state and Brazil.
One of the most anticipated attractions of the party is the famous “Tombo da Polenta”. This is a special moment when a giant pan, with a capacity of 1.390 liters, is used to prepare a huge portion of polenta.
This pan is a perfect replica of the traditional Italian pans that were used in the nonnas' kitchens, and this custom is kept alive to this day.

To get an idea of the magnitude of this dish, it takes 400 kilos of cornmeal and a lot of water to prepare 1.200 kilos of polenta. And when the polenta is finally ready, it is served to the sound of the music “La bella polenta”, which certainly moves the audience present.
The event has a diverse program, including the election of the queen and princesses of the party, which is now in its 32nd edition. Seven candidates are vying for these coveted event royalty titles.

In addition, the Festa da Polenta de Venda Nova offers a series of shows, including performances by renowned national artists, such as Fernando e Sorocaba, Diego and Victor Hugo, and Blacksete. The variety of entertainment promises to please all tastes.
